There are millions of hearing impaired people all over the world. Thus, there is a constantly increasing need for new and effective hearing aids. Because hearing aid production is posing great opportunities for makers, there are also more hearing aid brands and manufactures that are now operating in the market. These firms offer different types of hearing aids.
It is safe to assert that nowadays, hearing impaired people are more fortunate. That is because there are simply more choices for them in the market. They would have a greater selection of choices for hearing aid products. If one model or type is uncomfortable, there are still many others that are ensured to be truly effective.
To understand the benefits and usability of hearing aids, it would be helpful if you would get a brief background of the common types of hearing aids. There are four basic types of such devices, namely, behind-the-ear, in-the-ear, in-the-canal and completely-in-the-canal hearing aid types.
Basic types of hearing aids
The first basic type of hearing aids is the behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing devices. As the name suggests, these instruments are put behind the ears of the wearer. Thus, BTEs are the bulkiest types of all hearing aids. They are easily identifiable and seen by other people. However, the advantage of wearing BTEs is that the devices are highly functional and effective in receiving and transmitting sounds to the ears. BTEs are also functional for any shape and size that can be usable on amplification and circuit options.
In-the-ear hearing aids, the second most rampant type, are worn on the external of the ears. These models are worn any normal earphones for walkmans. There is an outside portion that rests on the outer ear. This part is responsible in collecting sounds from the surroundings.
In-the-canal types are somehow annoying on the part of the user. That is because the items are sitting directly on the ear canal’s internal tunnel. ITCs are very much sophisticated in that no matter how small they are, they are still made up of fine and highly effective circuits to facilitate better functioning.
Completely-in-the-canal hearing aid styles are completely in the interior of the ear. Thus, the instrument is not very visible when worn by the user. One setback with this type is that it cannot be used by just everyone. CICs are not fit for all sizes and shapes of ears. That is why its use varies on the structure of the ears of the user.
Other types of hearing aids
There are other types of hearing aids. These types are not as basic as the first four. Under the other type category, hearing aids can be in the form of television hearing aids, Bluetooth hearing aids or movie hearing aids.
As the name suggests, television hearing aids are very ideal for television viewing. The user would just wear the wireless hearing aids whenever he watches the television. Thus, the awkwardness of having to raise the volume of the TV set to a level annoying for housemates and neighbors would be effectively eliminated.
Bluetooth hearing aids facilitate connectivity between hearing aids and wireless devices like mobile phones and computers. Now, you could talk using the cellular phone without using any special hearing aids. Bluetooth hearing aids would facilitate for the wireless and hands-free process.
Movie hearing aids are used specifically when the person is watching a movie. The volume level is pre-adjusted on settings that are ideal for movie house viewing.
With these different types of hearing aids, you would surely infer that it is not an impairment anymore to have hearing defects. You would surely still enjoy life even if your sense of hearing is altered.
