10 Ways to Avoid Wearing a Hearing Aid
By Gerry Moroney
If you really don't fancy wearing a hearing aid but feel that your hearing is not as good as it used to be,
Here are 10 ways to avoid not having to wear a hearing aid:
Go and have your ears checked for wax and if necessary syringed - this is not a DIY job - have it done by a qualified person.
Go on denying that you need a hearing aid, no one can make you wear one! ...but why suffer?
Turn up the TV and Radio - This may annoy your family - it may even annoy your neighbors but it's your hearing after all.
Turn up your Walkman/iPod/personal - It may make your hearing worse but you can hear the music better now.
Tell people not to mumble - they'll tell you they're not mumbling but you know that they should speak clearly.
Tell people to shout - this will annoy everyone including the neighbors (this is getting good!)
Ask people to repeat what you missed.
Ask someone to repeat what the other person (or the TV) said.
Learn to lip-read.
Ask people to face you and mouth their words carefully.
Or you could decide that your family has suffered long enough
